Match report by Richard Church
Another 0-0 draw for the ODs at Creasey Park – the third in a row. Unlike the previous two, this one
was a bit of a stinker with very few clear cut chances. Ware had to start with one of their outfield
players in goal but we just could not take advantage of his inexperience between the posts.
The first half was end to end for the initial 15 minutes but neither side managed to carve out any
clear opportunities. Not much really to report on a dour first half to be honest – the only chance of
any note came and went for Ware with 36 on the clock following a poor pass out of defence, the
Ware striker went round Matt in goal but could not manage to finish and the chance seemed to
fizzle out.
The second half was not much better although there were a few half chances for both sides. Ollie cut
in and hit a shot just over the bar on 50 minutes and 8 minutes later Sean had a shot that went wide.
Almost straight away Ware then attacked but the final shot was hit across the face of the goal with
no-one sharp enough to get a touch. 73 gone and a fine defensive header from Harry following a
corner was pounced on by a Ware player who hit a very decent shot just wide of the post. A poor
clearance by Matt 5 minutes later was pounced on but ultimately the shot was deflected wide. Last
opportunity of any note came after some fine work by Ethan saw the ball played to Kyle Lynch but
his shot went well wide of the post.
Man of the match (as decided by the AFC committee) was Ball retriever Stuart McEchney – he had
more meaningful touches of the ball than the visiting keeper!
