AFC Dunstable 1 Beaconsfield 1
AFC Dunstable 1-1 Beaconsfield Town
SATURDAY 1 st February 2025.
A really hard fought match on a very muddy bog of a pitch saw the points shared – both teams tried
their hardest in difficult conditions but a draw was probably a fair result.
Beaconsfield took an early lead with 18 on the clock. A free kick was played in to the box and Luke
Neville got to the ball first to head it goalwards as goalkeeper Sam Carmen (on his debut) appeared
to be blocked by one of his own defenders – Manu Oke-Williams stabbed the ball over the line to
claim the goal.
The visitors could have doubled their lead 5 minutes later with a long shot but the ball struck the bar
and away to safety. There were a few half chances in the remainder of the first half for both sides –
our best efforts were a Sean long shot that lacked power and was an easy pick up for the keeper and
a Kyle Lynch shot that went over the bar. Sam in the home goal pulled off a fine save with 10
minutes of the half to go as he got down low to a well struck shot to tip the ball round the post.
There was a bad miss from the visitors when one of their strikers shot over the bar when he really
should have hit the target.
AFC started the second half the stronger team. An early free kick from Joel was tipped over the bar
by the keeper. As AFC took the game to the visitors, it was no surprise when we equalised on 53
minutes – a delightful shot from the edge of the box by Kwad hit low in to the corner of the net – the
keeper made a full length dive to try to get to it, but the ball was so well struck that he could not
reach it.
Once again, the rest of the half was a bit of a battle with both sides creating some half chances.
Beaconsfield will feel that they should have scored on 59 minutes when their winger played in a
delightful ball but the resultant header was put over the bar when it looked as though he should
have hit the target. AFC had a couple of decent efforts. As we moved in to time added on the ball
was moved up the field with impressive touches but a last ditch tackle saw the ball put out for a
corner. From the resulting corner there was an almighty goalmouth scramble but no one could get a
decent connection and the visiting goalie fell on to the ball with pretty much the last action of the
game.
Well done to the whole team – a good battling performance sees us unbeaten in 2 games – lets hope
we can continue the run!
