Arlesey Town 2-4 AFC Dunstable

Arlesey Town 2-4 AFC Dunstable

5 th November 2024.

A game that should have been a comfortable win on paper (Arlesey are a step below us) was

anything but – AFC really had to work hard to get this one over the line and in the end deservedly

take the win.

AFC took the lead in the 14 th minute with a well struck penalty from Tommy. A defensive mix up 10

minutes later saw a penalty at the other end – Ezra Forde with the equaliser past debutant keeper

Matthew Bonsu.

A superb left foot strike from distance by Stan gave us the lead back on 37, followed by our third 5

minutes later – a shot from Ollie that took a deflection and wrong footed the keeper – own goal or

Ollies goal? 3-1 up at half time.

12 minutes in to the second half, AFC pretty much put the game to bed with a goal from Russell.

These are the two Twitter posts from each team describing the goal;

“56’ Arlesey 4-1 AFC Dunstable, a long ball goes over the top and Dunstable get the ball into the box,

tapped home from close range”

“57’ GOALLL Incredible play from AFC as Spicer dances through and plays a wonderful cross field ball

to Greco who cuts it across to an unmarked Russell Berko who slots it home.”

Doesn’t take a genius to work out which tweet was from which team!

To be fair, Arlesey continued to push and probe and were rewarded with their second goal just

before the hour with a Tom Millett rocket (their words, not mine) to complete the scoring. The last

15 minutes or so was a lot of huff and puff but Arlesey never really looked like threatening to take

the game to penalties.

Decent game – more fireworks off the pitch than on it!!

Man of the match as voted by the committee went to Ollie Spicer.

Team line up (subs in brackets); Matthew Bonsu, Bruce Ovbiye-Nsang, Alfie Long-Nicholls (George

Joyce 63), Stan Georgiou, Kwad Bugyei-Kyei (Dan Tagoe 63), Kyle Brooks (Abel Damoah Kyeremeh

(?)), Charlie Davis (Callum Martin HT), Tommy Blennerhasset (Sean Duodu 63), Russell Berko, Rico

Greco, Ollie Spicer.
